PLANT PROTECTION DEPARTMENT
The Department of Plant Protection has 2 major sub-divisions namely Entomology and Phytopathology. Phytopathology sub-division studies have the following fields of study, Mycology, Bacteriology, Virology and Herbology. Entomology sub-division has Acarology, Nematology, and Applied Entomology study areas.

Both sub-divisions are conducting research projects supported by DPT, TUBITAK, and BAP with the objectives of solving national as well as regional problems on plant protection.

Department of Plant Protection is offering undergraduate and graduate (M. Sc.) courses in the fields of pests and diseases causing yield losses on crop plants, biology, and ecology of the pest and disease agents, host plant parasite interactions and control methods.

The students who graduate from the Plant Protection Department can get a job in the government and especially they can establish their own business such as pesticides agency, production of pests and disease free plant materials.
The department has an academic staff of 4 professors, 4 associate professor, 1 specialist and 6 research assistants.
